Weighing All the Options

Dear Dee:
About 2 months ago, I got raped. I'm only 14 but I am pregnant. I live with my older brother who's 20. He's says I should just quit school and try to take care of the baby or just get an abortion.

I wish I knew more about abortions I just hate that you're killing someone. I am against abortion, but I don't know what else to do. I really don't want to quit school. I would like to become a teacher someday. So I would really just like your opinion.

I am so so so sorry for what you have been through. It's horrible. And you're way too young to have to deal with it.

But I really admire you for wanting to find out all you can about your options so you can make a well-informed, wise decision. The thing is though, no one's opinion matters here but yours. So all I am going to try to do is point you in the right direction to get the information you need.

Our hotlines have 24/7 professional support from people who can talk you through all of your o
Options - from abortion to adoption, to having this baby. They can also give you many suggestions on how to get help with costs, emotional support and anything else you need.
Please reach out to them.

Also, when calling the hotlines, ask them if they have local offices in your area so you can meet with someone in person to talk through some of your questions/issues. I'd also encourage you to report your rape to the local authorities if you haven't already or contact the National Sexual Assault Hotline.

Honey, this is a decision you will live with for your entire life. And, whatever you choose will change your life forever. Please take the time to sort through your feelings, your beliefs, what you're able to handle and what you want your future to be. I am sorry you have to make such grown up decisions, but with the right guidance, information and help you will make the right choice. I have faith in you.
