Dear Dee:
You always say someone shouldn't be dating someone if they can't see a future with them, but correct me if I'm wrong: Isn't it worth it to test the waters (go out with some guys, have some relationships) so you know what you're looking for and are more likely to know when you meet "the one"?
I think what you're missing is the word ‘continue.' I don't think you should CONTINUE to date someone if you can't see a future with them.
I agree, you do have to date different people, test the waters and figure out exactly what you're looking for. Some guys/girls you'll go out with once and know they're not right for you; with others, it might take months or a year.
But once you decide the person you're currently with isn't what you're looking for, it's best to cut them loose right away so both of you can move on. Feelings will get hurt. That's a given. But the pain is more bearable if you cut it off as soon as you realize he/she isn't right for you, instead of stringing that person along until the ‘right moment.'
Because really, when is there a ‘right moment' to hurt someone's feelings or break someone's heart?
