They Say He's Not the One. I Say He Is

Dear Dee:
I like this guy at school and he only goes for the skinny, popular girls. I am too scared to ask if he likes me or not. My friends tell me he is not right for me but I disagree. I really like him a lot. What should I do?

Well, you'll never know unless you try. But I would be curious to know why your friend thinks he's not for you. Does she know something about him you don't? Does she have insight into his personality (like, is he a jerk)?

The choice is ultimately yours. You should listen to what your friends have to say, and then go with your gut. If you like the guy and think he's worth taking a chance on, then do it! Put yourself out there and see what happens. You know the drill. You'll never know until you try ... blah, blah, blah.

And don't worry about what you think he 'only goes for.' You could be the total opposite of any other girl he's dated and still be the one he's looking for. So don't worry about it. Be confident in who you are and in what you have to bring to a relationship and go for it.

I'm totally pulling for ya. And if it doesn't work out, don't sweat it. You win some, you lose some. But you can't do EITHER if you don't take a chance.
